The Hungarian Welschriesling, called Olaszrizling, is completely unrelated to the German Riesling and is a much-planted grape variety in Hungary.
This Welschriesling ripened in terracota amphorae or qvevri.
With its light straw yellow hues, this wine shows slight aromas of spices and hints of stewed yellow apple and ripe white stone fruit, complemented by mellow and elegant acids, and tannins giving this 2019 Welschriesling some structure. The aftertaste reminds you of walnuts.
Serve this light Hungarian wine with an autumn salad.

De Hongaarse versie van de welschriesling, olaszrizling genaamd, is, ondanks wat de naam doet vermoeden, geen familie van de bekende rieslingdruif. Het is een in Hongarije veel aangeplant druivenras.
Ook deze Welschriesling werd in terracotta amforen of qvevri’s opgevoed.
Hij heeft een eerder lichte strogele kleur.
De licht aromatische wijn heeft wat kruidigheid met toetsen van gestoofde gele appel en rijp wit steenfruit.
In de mond hebben we matige maar fijne zuren en toetsen van gele appel.
De tannines zorgen voor een mooie structuur met een walnootachtige afdronk.
Serveer deze lichte Hongaar bij een lekker slaatje.
